Pets in Colorado

Time for another installment in our adventures in moving to Colorado. It's late so this won't be a large installment, but hopefully a useful one into our thinking about our move.

One important aspect about our move will be our pets. Right now that means two dogs, two horses and one cat. Eventually that might mean only one horse, but the horse will probably be one of the most important factors in choosing a location in Colorado.

Natalie rides dressage, she lives dressage, she works dressage, so finding a good dressage barn in Colorado is going to be important. We are planning a trip to Colorado in December, it will most likely be to look for good dressage barns, based on what we find we will start narrowing down our location search in CO. Do you have any thoughts for a good dressage barn in an area within two hours from Denver?

As for the other pets, we will get a house with a fenced yard. The dogs are definitely missing the fenced yard we used to have, so getting them something they can run around in will be important. We will most likely look at having a place with a doggie door so that they can come and go as they please, though we'll have to investigate the technical feasibility of that, and hopefully not letting the cat out at the same time.

I live in Grand Junction. We have an active Dressage Society here. Great views, safe location. We are more than 3 hours from Denver, BUT, we have a good airport here. To be honest, I found your blog while looking for places to advertise my home for sale. I don't know what your budget is, but we have a wonderful house on almost an acre of land that is zoned for up to 3 horses. We have a huge fenced back yard and although we're only 1/2 a mile from the hospital and a mile from grocery shopping, it feels like we're in the country. If you have any interest at all, please e-mail me and I'll send you links to our listing. In any case, I hope you enjoy this adventure of moving to a new state.
